This evening course (6 weeks online with option for additional 4 weeks in person) is the perfect introduction to all aspects of Screen Acting from technical aspects to performance. In a friendly and inspiring environment we will demystify all parts of the craft including casting, rehearsing, shooting and performance analysis. You will learn the key difference between performing for stage versus performing for camera.
ONLINE AND CLASSROOM TRAINING: As all modern devices have cameras be they phones, laptops, iPads or desktop computers, this is a perfectly complimentary medium to study and learn about screen acting online. Using the unique training methods that Bow Street uses across all its training that has opened the doors for countless actors to forge a career in the industry, we will be learning all the basic essentials of screen acting and offering a unique insight into the craft that you won’t find anywhere else online. These will be instructive workshops with the main focus on doing rather than just talking and listening. Applicants have the option to apply for just the 6 week online syllabus or the 10 week option that includes 4 weeks of in person training at Bow Street.

“The online part of the course has done so much for me. I have only a small bit of experience from stage acting and the information and guidance I have received so far has been of huge benefit.
Shimmy, Sarah and Dale have been exceptional in their teaching of all things acting, screen writing, script analysis, casting, self-taping to name a few. I would highly recommend this course and I will be applying for more courses at Bow Street.”

PLEASE STATE IN YOUR APPLICATION IF YOU ARE APPLYING FOR THE 6 WEEK OR 10 WEEK OPTION.
1 What evening does the course run?
The course runs on Monday nights only. The classes run consecutively except on Bank Holidays.
2 What times are the classes?
All classes are 6.30pm – 9.30pm
3 Can I book the 6 Weeks first and then sign up for the 4 in person classes later?
No – this course always books up extremely quickly so we can’t provide this option as places are in high demand and limited to a small number of people for the in-person classes to allow more one-on-one time. The only exceptions are if someone who has booked the 10 weeks has to drop out before the in-person classes begin, we offer that place to those on the 6 week option who may already have expressed an interest or preference to do the full 10 weeks.
4 Are the Zoom classes recorded?
No. In our experience students feel more inhibited when they know they are being recorded, which means they don’t ask questions for fear of looking foolish etc. We need the class to be a safe learning environment where people feel free to ask questions and express opinions without fear of judgement or ridicule. We also do not have consent from the tutors or fellow students to be filmed so students are also prohibited from recording any sessions.
5 What happens if I miss a class?
If you miss a class that’s fine but please try to get notes from another student so you don’t fall behind.
6 Do I get a showreel scene at the end of the course?
No. This course is an “introduction” to screen acting. Both our 6 Month Part-Time course and our year lo1 Year Full-Time course provide you with a showreel scene at the end.
7. Can I attend the in-person classes remotely via Zoom?
No. The point of the in-person classes is to experience the work physically in the room simulating a film set environment. The course is very experiential and interactive so it’s not possible to participate sufficiently remotely.
8. If I do this course do I get a place on the 6 Month Part Time Course?
No. Acceptance onto the 6 Month Part Time course requires a separate online application and interview with the school directors but many of those who do the Introduction Course go on to attend the 6 Month Part Time Course.
