HORROR ACTING and FILMMAKING CAMP
Horror Theory – Tues 31st
We will begin the day in the cinema, showing a truncated timeline of the History of Horror, from the Universal monster movies to the slasher movie in the 70s, to the found footage style popularised by the Blair Witch Project, to modern day.
We have a slideshow put together along with age appropriate videos to show horror through the ages.
After lunch we will look at the technical horror effects that can be achieved even on low budget films including lighting, sound, costume, make up etc…

The day begins with improv and script writing before lunch. You will devise and come up with, workshop and write their script for your horror film.
After lunch you will implement the lessons learned from the previous day to finesse your film – can a piece of dialogue be substituted for a look, how will you create a horrific atmosphere correct for their piece with lighting (Nosferatu) and music (Jaws), how can you successfully incorporate a jumpscare etc…

Child protection is given a high priority in Bow Street, by the Director, Tutors and Staff.
We want to ensure that all the young actors practice and perform in a safe, caring and secure environment. We organise that all our teachers are vetted by the National Vetting Bureau (NVB) before being allowed to interact with any students. You can download our Child Safeguarding Statement HERE.
