Shimmy Marcus has won a variety of awards for many films including the features Soulboy starring Felicity Jones, Martin Compston and Alfie Allen, and Headrush with Wuzza Conlon and Steven Berkoff. He has also directed numerous Shorts, Documentaries, TV Dramas, and Music Promos. He joined The Factory in 2010 and went on to establish Bow Street with Maureen Hughes in 2014. He has taught filmmaking and acting for many years and is a co-founder of The Screen Directors Guild of Ireland.
Maureen Hughes trained as artistic assistant under Garry Hynes at Druid Theatre Company in the ’80s and went on in 1992 to work in the Abbey Theatre for two-and-a-half years as Head of Casting. She moved into Film & TV working with Susie Figgis on casting The Butcher Boy and subsequently went out on her own to cast several major screen productions, including the Oscar®-winning films Six Shooter and Once, and recent Award Winning RTE productions Love-Hate, Charlie, Clean Break, and Rebellion. Film Credits include: Agnes Browne, Borstal Boy, Disco Pigs, Noble and This Must Be The Place. In 2014 she established Bow Street with Shimmy Marcus.
Gerry Grennell is one of the world’s most in demand Acting Coaches. He has collaborated extensively with Heath Ledger on numerous projects including The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus, and Batman: The Dark Knight, and has worked frequently with Johnny Depp, Bruce Willis, Oscar Isaac, Joel Edgerton, Abbie Cornish, Natalie Portman (Jane Got A Gun) Tom Cruise (Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol) Marlon Brando, Sean Penn, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Matt Damon, Amy Adams, Kate Hudson, Ewan McGregor, Orlando Bloom, and many more. Gerry trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama, Constructive Teaching Centre London (Alexander Technique) and Hochschule fur Misik und Theater Hannover (Music).
Training Coordinator and Young Filmmakers
Aidan graduated from The Programme for Screen Acting in 2013 and has appeared in many films since then including Get Up and Go, The Audition, and The Light of Day. He also produced his own Web Series Pleasant Place before joining Bow Street where he runs the Young Filmmakers Academy and teaches on many of the courses there.
Sarah studied Film Studies at Trinity College Dublin before joining Maureen Hughes Casting in 2013. She continues to work with Maureen as a Casting Associate while working as Course Coordinator at Bow Street.
Saul has worked extensively in the music industry as both musician and in management. He worked for many years as a booker for Eamonn Dorans before joining up with Republic of Loose as Tour Manager, Label Manager and finally Manager of the band. Reception and Adminstration
Becky is our Receptionist and a whole lot more. A graduate from NUI Maynooth with a BA International in German and Sociology she joined Bow Street in 2014. Multi-tasker Becky is also the main administrator for all courses and workshops at Bow Street.
Ben works in Bow Street covering general administration and maintenance of studio spaces for classes, talks and events. He is an experienced screenwriter and teaches screenplay structure on many of the courses at Bow Street. He also offers script consultation sessions from his office at Bow Street.
Conor joined Bow Street as an intern and quickly made himself indispensable. He is a technical wizard and works across a variety of departments including our Spotlight Studio Filmographer and technical manager.
